QR Codes On Coins - Jun 2011
The Dutch Mint has announced that it will be adding QR Codes to its currency. 2 new coins will be released and the Royal Dutch Mint promises a surprise. It's thought that the QR Codes will take users to the Royal Mints home page.
This is the first instance of QR Codes being used on currency but could it be a sign of things to come and could other countries adopt a similar approach? This is the Royal Dutch Mints 100th birthday so could just be a one off. Interesting approach all the same.
The mint is thought to be releasing a limited run of these coins in both gold (costing 10 Euros) and Silver (costing 5 Euros)
